The brief
The Order of Solicitors and Execution Agents (OSAE) was marking its 90th anniversary with the VII Congress — a milestone edition that needed to feel as significant as the occasion itself.
The challenge
The event spanned multiple venues across Viana do Castelo — a cultural centre, a theatre, a historic fort, a ship-turned-hospital, a municipal library — and formats ranging from a lapel badge to a venue-sized backdrop. Keeping the identity consistent and recognisable at every scale, while still carrying the weight of a 90-year milestone, was the core design problem.
The approach
The project started as a poster competition: a shortlist of agencies and designers was invited to submit concepts for the congress.
After winning that first stage, the scope expanded into designing and producing the entire event's communication. The identity pairs a bold "VII Congresso" wordmark with a warm gradient — amber into deep red — giving the anniversary a sense of ceremony without falling into generic institutional imagery. A filigree pattern referencing Viana do Castelo's traditional heart ornament runs through the backgrounds, tying the identity to the host city itself.
The outcome
I was later invited back to compete for a second event, and won that competition too.
Applied everywhere
Posters, city guides and programmes, accreditation badges, street and venue banners, stage backdrops, digital screens and booth environments — consistent across three days and five venues.
